Joseph F. Beckmeyer Sr., 77, Secaucus Fire Department chief

Joseph F. Beckmeyer Sr., 77, a lifelong resident of Secaucus, died yesterday in the Meadowlands Hospital, Secaucus.

A Mass will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Immaculate Conception Church, Secaucus. Arrangements are by the Mack Memorial Home of Secaucus.

Mr. Beckmeyer was a hi-lo operator with the Maislin Brothers Transport for 30 years before retiring. Earlier, he had been employed with Clarendon Stock Farm and had been president of his company, Florian Brigade.
Mr. Beckmeyer was a former chief of the Secaucus Volunteer Fire Department and a former director of the Secaucus Drum & Bugle Corps.
He was a founding member of Our Lady of Fatima Knights of Columbus and a member of the Holy Name Society, both with Immaculate Conception Church.
He was also a member of Teamsters Local 560 and its Retirees Club.
Surviving are his wife, Eleanor; sons, Joseph Jr., Brian and Glenn; sisters, Winifred Spence and Evelyn Kosky, and seven grandchildren.
